The Vratsa Skaklya Waterfall

Spring is here and it is waterfall season. And some of the most impressive waterfalls in the country are in the Vratsa Balkan.

The Vratsa Skaklya drops a full 141 m. The waterfall is captivating for its sheer scale, and spring is the ideal season to see this giant at its finest.

Tour Itinerary

Departure from Sofia at 7:00, in front of the Vasil Levski stadium. The drive to the town of Vratsa takes around an hour and a half.
Once the group has reached the starting point, the guide runs the briefing and an equipment check, and we set off on the day's adventure.

The Skaklya waterfall - Voyvodin Dol.
We follow the eco-trail that leads to our goal. It begins with a climb, which with enough breaks any active walker can manage. After the hard part we come out onto the ridge. The views towards the rock pinnacles opposite make us forget the effort, and almost without noticing we find ourselves on Markov Kamak peak. Time for photographs, a short rest, and off we go again in anticipation of the waterfall.

Since there has been a climb, the good news is that a descent follows. Almost before we know it, we are standing at the foot of the waterfall.

It is magnificent and divinely beautiful. It is definitely worth the effort.

We descend back to Vratsa. The walk totals around 4 hours.
